Drew Amend, LMSW
Drew was born and raised here in Wichita and is a graduate of both Wichita State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas, with his master’s in social work. The emphasis of his master’s program was on cultural competency with Latino populations.
Prior to Drew’s career as a social worker, he served his community as a local hypnotist since 2015, and he is the founder of Wichita Hypnotherapy. In addition to his credentials as a Kansas Licensed Social Worker, he is also a certified member of the International Association of Counselors & Therapists (IACT), and a graduate of the Hypnosis Motivation Institute (HMI) the first federally accredited school of hypnosis in the country.
Drew has worked with hundreds of local Wichita residents to resolve issues in the context of hypnotic interventions and now specializes in trauma-related issues, including depression, and anxiety. He is experienced and trained in crisis intervention, suicide prevention, family systems theories, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). He is now also expanding his training and clinical experience in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and is known for quickly establishing a strong therapeutic alliance with his clients using a person-centered approach.
